Spooktacular Ways to Engage Students this Halloween

While Halloween can be challenging to incorporate into the classroom, opportunities do exist to engage students in school wide activities that provide fun and safe experiences. Here are a few ideas to give students & staff a chance to show off their creative side:

  • Hey BOO-ful: Set up a photoBOOth in the cafeteria or school common area & give it a fun name to encourage student & staff participation. Make it extra exciting by sharing their photos across campus with The Scholastic Network or digital displays.

  • Romeo & Ghouliet: If allowed, consider hosting a costume contest among students & staff. Consider picking a theme to help guide positive costume choices. A visual communication platform will help you clearly communicate what is allowed and what is not permitted.

  • Give ‘em PUMPKIN to talk about: Host an arts and crafts contest in which students decorate a pumpkin, sugar skull or fall related item and share the photos across campus for scary good impact!

  • In a time crunch? Don’t let that SPOOK you out: Simply upload some fresh creative from the loads of videos & images available for you in The Scholastic Network content library.

  • #SquadGhouls: Safety is the number one priority no matter what Halloween plans may be in place. Remind students to Trick or treat with parents or friends, with a clearly defined route and, if needed, a curfew in place.

Halloween may be celebrated in many ways, but, most importantly, providing opportunities to enjoy the time of year in a fun and safe way can engage students for a positive experience.

Take any of these ideas to the next level with a Visual Communications Strategy & impactful display network. The Scholastic Network is here to help you plan, empower, engage and make an impact with all of your school & district communications! Contact us today to get started.
