In these unique times, CTE Departments are evolving as the world changes. TEKS College and Career Readiness standards and Transferable Skills are more important than ever. The Scholastic Network increases visibility so that ALL students can envision a future. More importantly, our TEKS aligned system can be used to inform and recruit students, thereby increasing your school’s Carl Perkins allotment. Here’s how we do it every day in schools and communicate effectively with students both on campus, and off. How is the district highlighting Student Achievements? The Network provides a great way to broadcast your student’s work, with the ability to share pictures or live stream competitions and events. Additionally, it serves as an amazing tool to inform Stakeholders (Parents and Community Members) of CTE opportunities. Student Engagement Portal The Student Engagement Portal provides a fully aligned TEKS resource outlet to get your students involved in the communication process on campus, which in turn, builds Culture and Community. The system can easily be used to inform and recruit students to all CTE programs in your district in High School, Middle School and as early as Elementary School. Additionally, with The Scholastic Network, high school students can create informative content that will reach younger students they are unable to connect with in person. This is highlighted by 3 project types within the Student Engagement Portal.
Three types of Student Engagement projects satisfy state standards through Project Based Learning and they are highlighted within the Student Engagement Portal. With The Network, you can showcase student’s work internally and outside the walls of your school. Make your students more marketable and provide them certificates for completion of projects. Create competition and collaboration in the type of content created by your students and seen across your network.
LOCAL PROJECTS Projects created by teachers. Allow students to Creatively express themselves and share their experiences and perspectives as it pertains to school culture, positive messaging and activities that lead to personal growth.
GLOBAL PROJECTS Projects created by The Scholastic Network that include topics such as: Community Service, Acts of Kindness, Why College and more. Accepted student content is then showcased across The Scholastic Network. Your school can include a watermark (ex: “Created by Students at ABC High School) in order to credited highlight the campus/district. Students who have content accepted by The Scholastic Network will receive a certificate to highlight their achievement and completion of project. This is a great college resume and portfolio builder for CTE programs.
POST SECONDARY PROJECTS Projects created by our post secondary institution sponsors (Universities, Colleges, Trade Schools, etc). Accepted content can be highlighted and used by the post secondary sponsor. This makes students more marketable and creates a connection from the post secondary institution back to the student, school and district.
